Keep in mind that regular calibration ensures that you’re getting the most accurate results which can greatly improve your ROI and avoid production loss and costly recalls. We recommend calibration be performed at least every 12 months.

What does a Mesa Labs calibration include?

During our standard calibration procedure, we calibrate the display to both clockwise and counterclockwise directions and check the linearity with 4 different torque standards. After calibrating your torque tester, we prepare a NIST traceable certificate for you.

The workflow concept for both calibration service options is as follows:

  • A thorough inspection of your analyzer
  • Make sure it meets all original specs
  • Clean the analyzer and the area immediately around it
  • Inspect all tooling and accessories
  • Complete all paperwork and certification documents
  • Review any questions with your operator(s)

Fedegari Improves Worldwide Customer Service

According to Fedegari master plan, the company has recently expanded its main manufacturing facilities headquartered in Pavia, Italy with approximately 6 MEUR investments in state-of-the-art machinery to support an industrial strategy with a 4.0 approach. This includes automated warehouses, laser- and waterjet-cutting machines, a new punch press and other machinery. Fedegari is focusing on a lean manufacturing strategy and the next phase of investments will include plant automation with new welding robots and surface treatment systems. Over 3 MEUR will be invested in the next phase including the continuous modernization of the sheet processing lines. In the last few years, Fedegari invested approximately 5 MEUR to expand manufacturing, build a new engineering facility, geothermal and photovoltaic plants, water purification systems and various other general infrastructures.

A new 630 m2 technical support complex housing the after-sales division and Qualitech (a service company part of Fedegari Group) has been opened last spring. In June, the subsidiary of Qualitech in Rome has inaugurated the new facilities with over 250 m2 of office space and spare parts warehousing. This way, the company will better support its customers while providing all after-sales services, from installation to validation, in the South of Italy. Through Qualitech, Fedegari offers a wide range of services from installation and startup of machines to qualification, validation and process development up to on-site training.

Program Your Torque Tester and Get Two Peak Values?

If you would like to program your torque tester and be able to get two distinctive peak torque values (thread break torque and Tamper Evident Band (TEB) break torque), the ST-120S or the ST-S3 torque testers can be programmed as follows:

  1. Associate a product name with the test recipe.
  2. Set the test mode to “Release”.
  3. Set the cycle count to 2. In the first cycle, the machine will measure the peak of the thread break. In the second cycle, the machine will measure the peak of the tamper-evident band (TEB) break.
  4. On the second “Test Setting” screen, set the “rotation speed” to 20rpm, the “release torque limit” to 20lbfin, the “starting torque” to 10%, the “torque ramp” to 30s, and the “method” to the rotation.
  5. Set the “rotation limit” to 250 degrees. Starting with a tight cap (applied torque >10lbfin), the thread break torque can be measured under 30 degrees. However, there is a single rotation limit setting, so the torque limit should be set reasonably close to the peak of the TEB break torque. After a few experimental cycles, the desired rotation limit is 200-250 degrees.
  6. To give the operator time for manually documenting the thread break (1st cycle), go in the Setup/Timers submenu and set the “New Cycle” delay to 5s.
  7. Alternatively, when a computer is capturing data from the machine the new cycle delay can be set to 00:00:50 (500ms).
